The Palácio Presidencial is a Cape Verdean monument located at Rua Pedro Álvares Cabral. It was constructed in the end of the 19th century of colonial and neo-greco architecture and used as a residence of the Portuguese governor until Cape Verde gained independence in 1975. It is in the downtown area of the capital city, Praia, in a part known as Platô in the southernmost part.

It is the central collection and distribution point for products produced throughout the surrounding countryside, and while the consumer-focused market is very large and vibrant, the majority of the trade is between middlemen (rabidantis) who bring the produce to larger national and international markets.
